Summary: 
Working in Calspan’s new, fully enclosed automotive crash test facility with its MESSRING propulsion system and micro track, the ideal candidate will be a self-starter working in a “hands on” position.
  • Must be able to function as part of a team and work cooperatively toward team goals.
  • Have good time management skills and are able to manage multiple tasks concurrently.
  • Participate in customer meetings, review test plans and proactively make recommendations.
  • Lead and coordinate the preparation of vehicles, instrumentation and test facility.
  • Perform vehicle alignment, positioning of seats, dummies, taking measurements and successfully execute tests.
  • Analyze test results, generate test reports and ensure on-time delivery of all deliverables.
  • Identify issues, conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective countermeasures.
Required Education / Experience:
  • A Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical, Automotive or Electrical Engineering, or the equivalent in experience,
  • 3+ years of automotive experience in Safety Testing, or
  • A combination of education and experience equivalent to above.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills are an absolute requirement to establish effective working relationships with test teams and customers.
  • Effectively handle multiple priorities, organize workload, and meet deadlines.
  • Exceptional analytical skills. Able to draw conclusions from raw data to support decision-making.
  • Excellent mechanical ability.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate technical subjects succinctly to other team members, management and customers.
  • Ambitious, self-starter with the ability to identify solutions when faced with obstacles.
  • Very proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Knowledge / Ability:  
  • Working knowledge of automotive crash test protocols (FMVSS, ECE, IIHS, USNCAP, and EuroNCAP).
  • Experience in executing vehicle crash tests.
  • Experience with Anthropomorphic Test Devices.
  • Familiar with data acquisition systems (DTS/Kistler), control systems, various transducer technologies.
  • Experience in analyzing data using available tools (DiaDAM, ProAnalyst, TEMA).
  • Experience with interpretation of injury assessment values and various Star ratings is a plus.
