Director, Government Programs

Government Contractor with over 50 years of experience providing services is looking for an experienced Program Director for a position to support our growing government requirements. The person must have experience working with the Federal Government agencies. Below are some of the duties and responsibilities:

Job Summary: Responsible for overall program execution, customer delight, and for managing all activities associated with programs including writing proposals, managing schedule, tracking program status, and interfacing  with customers.

  • Manage with the intent to motivate, train and develop.  Manage administrative responsibilities (scheduling, timekeeping, budgeting).  Provide timely, constructive feedback regarding work and performance.  Manage non-performing employees in accordance with company policy.  Manage high potential employees to career succession and growth opportunities.
  • Manage scope/cost issues, change control processes and implement effective operating budgets.  Develop, review, and approve plans, schedules, agreements and other program documents.  Prepare and provide various reports and technical reviews to senior management as requested. Ensure compliance with relevant corporate and government policies and standards.
  • Responsible for profitability and revenue growth of assigned programs. Perform marketing and business development activities, including the preparation and review of technical and cost proposals.  Meet with customers, brief solutions, develop long term business relationships. Build new business plans, track, follow and lead opportunity pursuits.
  • Manage customer expectations and maintain contact with the customer base at several levels to solicit feedback, resolve issues, and ultimately achieve customer satisfaction through proactive communications. Demonstrate the ability to effectively negotiate/ resolve difficult customer situations or issues amicably while maintaining internal policies and guidelines.
Required Education / Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related discipline
  • 10+ years of direct program management experience
  • Previous experience in management position or;
  • A combination of education and experience equivalent to above
Knowledge / Ability: 
  • Government contracting experience
  • Develop winning competitive USG Proposals
  • Demonstrated project management skills with an emphasis program growth and process efficiencies
  • Experience in developing and implementing complex contract program initiatives
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills with proven ability to interface with executive level management
