The Automotive Facility is an international leader in automotive crash testing and is always is always improving and advancing the science. The successful candidate will work with our world class Automotive Testing team in Buffalo, NY.

Summary:  This position is responsible for preparing and executing individual component and full scale vehicle crash tests. 
  • Work as an integral member of a cross function team pitching in where needed to ensure each vehicle crash test is executed in accordance with customer requirements, standard test procedures and work instructions:
  • Troubleshoot wiring, repair cabling and solder on connectors.
  • Calibrate instrumentation; including accelerometers and load cells.
  • Assemble sensor group, certify and ring out crash test dummies.
  • Instrument test vehicles and install onboard high speed cameras.
  • Assist with test vehicle and facility setup.
  • Take measurements using 3D coordinate measurement machine.
  • Follow internal work instructions, complete checklists and gather data as needed.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, electrical and data collection issues.
  • Complete mechanical modifications to test articles and equipment.
  • Create test reports using MS Office software.
Preferred Education / Experience:
  • Associates, Computer and Electronics Technology, Electrical or Mechanical Technology
  • Previous Experience as a Calibration Technician or in the field of Metrology
  • 3+ years experience in a technical discipline, or
  • A combination of education and experience equivalent to above
Preferred Knowledge / Ability: 
  • Proficient in MS office tools (Outlook/Excel/Word/PowerPoint)
  • Good working electrical and mechanical knowledge and troubleshooting skills.
  • Quality control systems.
  • Soldering with or without a microscope
  • Ability to operate a wide variety of hand and power tools, shop tools, and shop equipment.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships, effectively handle multiple priorities, organize workload, and meet deadlines
  • Must be able to work assigned hours as required to meet customer testing needs – may include overtime, nights and weekends.
  • Able to lift, carry, push and pull 50 pounds, either individually or with equipment such as carts and cranes.
  • Capable of climbing, bending, kneeling, crawling, and stooping to move and install equipment
  • Effective communication skills
