Calspan Systems Corporation provides expertise in wind tunnel models and related test support hardware, aircraft components, flight test hardware, engine test rigs, rotor blades and rotor test stands, electronic data acquisition systems and marine surface and underwater systems.
Calspan’s primary objective of this position is to increase sales and sales opportunities by broadening the customer base and increasing the volume of business with existing customers. 
Description for Business Development Manager:
  •  Follow established business development plan and strategies to ensure profitable growth 
  • Identify new customers and business opportunities 
  • Build and maintain customer relationships 
  • Prepare and present Company’s capabilities to new and existing customers 
  • Attend conferences, trade shows and professional meetings to promote the Company’s capabilities 
  • Assist with the bid and proposal efforts to ensure successful outcome 
  • Prepare and maintain presentation materials 
Preferred Education / Experience for Business Development Manager:
  • Bachelors/Masters in a business and/or engineering related discipline
  • 7+ years in related discipline;
  • Previous experience in sales/marketing/business development position or;   
  • A combination of education and experience equivalent to above
Preferred Knowledge / Ability for Business Development Manager:
  • Proven track record of meeting Business Development/Sales objectives in a technical consultative selling environment
  • Strong working knowledge of government & commercial contracts; ability to navigate landscape in both arenas and effectively communicate market
  • Existing relationships with OEM’s
  • Strategic thinker, passionate about driving growth, customer management/relationship building skills
  • Superior verbal and written communications skills; expertise in writing documents and presentations in a highly dynamic environment 
  • A self-starter, risk taking, highly innovative individual with strong organizing and time management skills to handle multiple priorities, responsibilities and customer needs
